    Responsibilities and achievements:
  • Creating next generation user experiences for FLO TV's mobile broadcast TV service.
  • FLO TV Automotive Rear Seat Entertainment product (CES winner for Design and for Innovation in automotive entertainment).
  • Six patent filings with the USPTO.
  • Datacasting based smartbook prototype utilizing network for real-time data. Demo'd at Mobile World Congress.
  • Champion user centered design principles across the organization and partners.
  • Balance and synthesize requirements from several different sources such as contractors, design firms, partner companies, content partners, internal legal and executives.
  • Co-planned and executed a week long user test, in an automotive context, with Qualcomm's usability lab. Built an in-car prototype for user testing.

1st Generation Mobile Applications

Recruited to Digital Orchid, a venture-funded mobile software startup focused on building and managing networked content applications for major brands. Reporting to the VP Engineering, I was retained to lead the design of all products in addition to building and managing the design and content teams. Joined Series A and fewer than 10 employees.

I directed the user experience design of award-winning and commercially successful products for: NASCAR, NHL, MLB, ESPN, IRL, Champ Car, AMA, Reef, Quiksilver, Hawaiian Tropic, and many, many others. Application design experience covers every major mobile product category and all major carriers in North, Central, and South America, with additional coverage in Europe: BREW, J2ME, PocketPC, WAP.

CollegeClub.com | Interaction Designer

May 1998 to April 2001 - San Diego, CA

1st Generation Social Networking

I joined CollegeClub.com, a college oriented social-networking website, during their Series A with fewer than 15 employees. After interning for two months I was offered a content management role and quickly assumed more responsibility, first managing a group of 30+ content editors then project managing development efforts and finally as a lead interaction designer for all of the web-based communication tools. The site grew from 150k+ active members to 2M when I left, and was a top 100 website by traffic.

    Responsibilities and achievements:
  • Interaction design for all communication tools.
  • Functional specification documents for all communication tools.
  • Communication tools product manager (revenue, performance, and promotion).
  • Editor and managing editor with 30+ direct reports.
  • Developed original interactive content like celebrity chats, online weddings, political debates, games, and several interactive campaigns for brands like Arista, GM, Nissan, and several movie releases.
